Today at last we departed Chiang Mai (a good few dollars lighter) at about 0930 local time and flew east.  This was first over the jungles of Laos - over the city of Luang Prabang - then across into Vietnam.  The route passed overhead Hanoi, but it was cloudy and we saw nothing of Vietnam. We even got some airframe ice.

In due course we passed into China without incident, and landed at Nanning's large airport. We had thought it  always possible that we might be turned back at the border, so at least that did not happen.

Progress throught Nanning airport was slow, and dogged by language obstacles. The avgas did not appear on arrival but has been ptomised for tomorrow morningn

I could not connect my cimputer the internet so I am doing this on my phone .....

    Yes - good to hear you made it. For a while there we thought you had bought it over Pac 6 north of Hanoi!!! Pity you did not get to see any of the scenery - supposed to be a very beautiful country.

Yesterday was a much better day!   We started off at Ahmedabad airport, after a night at the Ummad Hotel (I would recommend!) and breezed through airport security, immigration etc.  Full marks to a sharp-eyed security man who saw that the name on my Newcastle Airfield pilot badge "Peter O Gorman" did not correspond to the name on my passport;  I never saw that myself.   Anyway after Calcutta, Ahmedabad  was a very quick process. Then we flew across the desert of western India into Pakistan and landed at Karachi for fuel, a 2hour flight.  It was very hot, in the high 30's deg C and there was not much shade.  I got out my umbrella for the first time.  The fuel was delayed being allowed into the airport, various promises came that it would be here in "five or ten minutes", then there was talk of "problems".  Uh uh.
