Today 3 May we flew south across Thailand, from Chiang Rai to Bangkok Don Muan airport. This was Bangkok's former main airport but has now become as busy with commercial traffic as the new main international airport.  The Mooney got an oil change, which went smoothly, and was due an oxygen refill; the latter did not go smoothly as the FBO that was to supply the oxygen did not have the right adapter fitting to connect to the aircraft's oxygen port.  Promises were made that this will be sorted out before we leave.

It is very hot here, mid 30's, which makes any outdoor activity rather unpleasant.

This latest adventure involves, in brief, a plan to fly Mooney M20M N2125K from its base in Habsheim (France) to Zhengzhou in China. Now in Dublin, packing.  No sign yet of Chinese permits.  Lots of small things to attend to.  Rushing.

Yesterday was a much better day!   We started off at Ahmedabad airport, after a night at the Ummad Hotel (I would recommend!) and breezed through airport security, immigration etc.  Full marks to a sharp-eyed security man who saw that the name on my Newcastle Airfield pilot badge "Peter O Gorman" did not correspond to the name on my passport;  I never saw that myself.   Anyway after Calcutta, Ahmedabad  was a very quick process. Then we flew across the desert of western India into Pakistan and landed at Karachi for fuel, a 2hour flight.  It was very hot, in the high 30's deg C and there was not much shade.  I got out my umbrella for the first time.  The fuel was delayed being allowed into the airport, various promises came that it would be here in "five or ten minutes", then there was talk of "problems".  Uh uh.
